This includes the municipal roads, sidewalks, parking lots, parks, trees, buildings and sewers. This department strives to provide a high level and quality of service for Green Brook residents. The Public Works Department (DPW) works with the Engineering Department on maintaining the public infrastructure of the Township. The Green Brook Recreation Committee is a volunteer organization consisting of nine members committed to improving the quality and availability of recreational opportunities for all residents of Green Brook Township. We proudly offer sporting and non-sporting recreational opportunities for res idents of all ages. We see no limit in what we are willing to offer. If you have an idea, join us and tell us about it. Meetings are held at 8pm on the second Wednesday of each month in Town Hall on 111 Greenbrook Rd, Green Brook, NJ 08812. Below is a sampling of events and activities sponsored or supported by the Recreation Committee: Basketball Programs- Open gym, Clinics for grades 1-8, League for grades 1-8, Travel teams for grades 3-8 Volleyball Program Bus trips - Atlantic City, Dinner Cruise, Little League World Series, New York Yankees, Off Broadway shows, Skiing Green Brook Volunteer Day Annual Activities - Easter Egg Hunt, Oktoberfest, National Night Out Hockey Club Somerset County Therapeutic Rec Tree Lighting in December 2023/24 Basketball Program Registration for the upcoming Saturday morning Rec season is open now, and closes November 10th. CLICK HERE FOR THE REGISTRATION FORM Green Brook Recreation 111 Greenbrook Road Green Brook, NJ 08812 The Saturday morning Rec program is open to children from grades 1 to 8; 1 form and 1 check can be used for the entire family. The program is an instructional format, where techniques, skills and drills are given to the children, followed by game play. There are two instructors with each group, to enable better oversight of progress and small group instruction. Registration is $85 per child, with a family maximum of $170. Rec Instruction & Play begins in December. Dates are Dec 2, 9, 16, Jan 6, 13, 20, 27, and Feb 3, 10, 17, 24. Registration Deadline for Saturday Rec is November 10th. After that date, your child’s participation is not guaranteed and is subject to a $5 per child late fee. Please register early so that we can order shirts. This Saturday Rec program participation will continue to be held in Green Brook. Travel Basketball Boys at the 8th grade level will continue to participate as a Green Brook Travel team. The team is open to any 8th grader, as well as the few 7th grade boys that played last season. The number of children registering will determine the tryout schedule. Practices will begin in mid-October. Games start December 1. Registration closes October 10. To register for the 8th Grade Boys Travel team, use this form and write a separate check for $150. Travel for girls grades 4-8 and boys grade 4-7 will be eligible to register to play in the Warren program! We are appreciative of the Board of Directors of the Warren Youth Basketball Association for their willingness to accept the Green Brook children into the travel program. The cost of the program is $350, plus a uniform cost for all new players. There is no fee to register for tryouts – you will only be charged if your child makes the team. The Rec program is instructional in nature, and is comprised solely of Saturday play. Each week, the players receive instruction, followed by game play. The Travel program is a more competitive, more serious program. Games occur on weeknights as well as weekends. Practices are scheduled by the coaches to provide instruction prior to and during the course of the season. Travel players are permitted to register for Green Brook Saturday Rec, to work on the skills that need refining. The travel program requires a greater commitment of time, not only on the part of the players but the parents as well. New for 2023 – Warren Rec Basketball Program. Not sure if you are ready for Travel basketball but looking for a little more than the GB Saturday morning Rec program? WYBA is now accepting Green Brook residents into their Rec program, for grades 3-8. This program is a little more intense than the Green Brook program. Participants have a one-hour practice on a weeknight, and games are played either Friday night or Saturday morning. Participation cost is $175 before November 1, $200 thereafter.
