(Green Brook) – Health Officer Confirms First COVID-19 Related Death in Green Brook

Green Brook, NJ – Today, Green Brook Health Officer, Kevin Sumner, has confirmed the first fatality related to COVID-19 in Green Brook.

“Today I received the call that I had hoped I would never get. The call that someone from Green Brook, one of our own, had passed away due to COVID-19 associated complications,” said Mayor Patrick Boccio.  “My condolences, thoughts, and prayers go out to the family and friends that are so burdened during this most difficult time. There are no words that can properly convey my sadness.”

Mayor Boccio continued, “At this time and during the coming weeks and months we, more than ever, need to rally around each other to help each other. We all are called to do everything we can to stem the tide of this dreadful disease. Please join me in this effort by staying home to the greatest extent possible and by abiding by the social distancing recommendations when you do have to go out. I remain confident that effective treatments and vaccines will be developed and we, as a Green Brook family, will get through this together.”

Green Brook’s Health Officer Kevin Sumner said, “The Heath Department is investigating all reported cases of COVID-19 in Green Brook. Our goal remains the same, to slow and eventually stop the spread of this disease. We ask the public to help us in this effort by following the public health recommendations such as social distancing and hand washing.”
