With the recent recommendations regarding Covid-19 precautions and our desire to keep our officers and residents safe from unnecessary exposure, the Green Brook Police Department will be implementing  the following modified response protocol:

  • All non-emergent calls for service will be taken via telephone. Somerset County communications will take all necessary contact information from the caller and pass that information to the Green Brook Police Department. An officer from the department will then contact the caller to take the report. All decisions for response will be made by a Green Brook Police Department Supervisor. Any calls for service that require a response by an officer, one will be provided. All emergency calls will receive an officer response.
  • All investigative follow-up will be done remotely unless it is necessary for face-to-face contact, or to collect physical evidence of a crime.
  • During calls that require a response due to evidence collection. Responding officers or detectives will direct residents to facilitate minimal exposure.

In addition to the response changes, we are asking residents to refrain from coming into police headquarters, unless it is an emergency.

  • ALL requests for reports, permits, or discovery will be conducted via the telephone and email. Residents should call our main number (732-968-1188) if they need a report, permit, or other administrative service.
  • If an individual comes to the police department for a non-emergent issue, they will not be allowed into the building and will be instructed to respond home to speak with a department representative via telephone.

The Green Brook Police Department will be providing all documents as is required by law; however, these modifications to the process are immediately necessary so as to not jeopardize the health of our officers, residents, and organization.

The Green Brook Police Department has contingency plans in place that will help prevent  interruption of service to the community. These changes are part of the plan, and will serve to minimize exposure to everyone. The Green Brook Police Department will continue to update the community with any changes to this protocol. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this difficult time.
