Friends of Somerset County Youth

Tuesday, March 10, 2009 2:23:26 PM

Friends of Somerset County Youth is a not for profit corporation organized exclusively for charitable purposes, and specifically to benefit the youth of Somerset County. It does this by supporting the efforts of local community volunteers to provide prevention programs and activities around risk factors that lead to juvenile delinquency, advocating for the needs of the county’s youth, and providing educational opportunities for youth serving professionals on a variety of topics related to youth and families. Friends works with the local Municipal Youth Services Commissions to bring exciting programs to their youth through a mini grant program.

The focus for this year is to raise enough funds to provide at least $5,000.00 for the Friends mini grant program (beginning in 2010) which supports the Municipal Youth Services Commissions and provides continued support for programs such as Girls on the Run. In order to achieve these goals, we recognize the need to enhance our efforts by further developing our Board of Trustees.

We are looking for a few individuals to join the Friends of Somerset County Youth Board. Friends of Somerset County Youth meets quarterly during the day for about an hour and a half; members are expected to attend the meetings. Involvement outside of the meetings may require conference calls and/or e-mails with other board members. This would take place if a discussion regarding possible grant opportunities is needed.
