OFF – TRACK WAGERING FACILITY PROPOSED FOR GREEN BROOK

Green Brook Township officials were notified that the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority has identified the Saturn Dealership on Route 22 West as a proposed site for its latest off-track wagering facility.  In a letter to Mayor Ken Herrmann, Dennis Dowd, Senior Vice President of NJSEA wrote, “We strongly believe that the proposed off-track wagering facility will offer employment opportunities as well as quality entertainment to the citizens of your community and the region generally.”

The Green Brook Township Committee will hold a Public Information Meeting at the Green Brook Middle School Auditorium on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.  All interested residents are invited to attend to learn about the proposed facility and to ask questions of the NJSEA staff.

 

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING
A Special Meeting of the Green Brook Township Committee will be held on Wednesday, March 5 at 7:30pm at the Irene E. Feldkirchner School, 105 Andrew Street, Green Brook, NJ 08812 to discuss the proposed Off Track Wagering facility.

 
Housing Rehabilitation Grants Available


Below or moderate-income residents who need to make home renovations may be able to get assistance from the Somerset County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing Rehabilitation Program.

Applicants are particularly being sought in North Plainfield, Peapack-Gladstone, Rocky Hill and Bernardsville. However applications also will be accepted from residents of the nine other participating towns: Bernards, Bound Brook, Bridgewater, Green Brook, Manville, Montgomery, Raritan, Somerville and South Bound Brook.

The CDBG Housing Rehabilitation program provides assistance to eligible homeowners who need to renovate or replace substandard heating, electrical or plumbing systems. Program funds can also be used to make structural repairs, alterations to correct code violations, improvements designed to reduce operating expenses and other repair work necessary for upgrading existing homes to standard condition.

Block grant funds are used to provide as much as $20,000 of rehabilitation assistance to single-family homeowners who meet household-income criteria.
Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
